Meet Sommelier on Demand: Michael’s 250 Event-Tested Wines, in Your Pocket

After thousands of tasting events, Michael Bottigliero gets the same question at the end of almost every one: "What should I buy?"

Guests want to take the night home with them. They want the bottle that went perfectly with the cheese, the sparkling wine that won the blind tasting, the red their skeptical uncle actually liked. So we built a way to give them Michael's answer any time, from any phone.

Sommelier on Demand (sommondemand.com) is a free app built on 250 wines Michael has personally poured at real Bottles Nation events, with his own note on every single one.

How it works

You ask in your own words, the way you'd text a friend who knows wine:

  • "Wines for a three-course seafood dinner."

  • "I need a bottle for my boss's birthday. She loves reds but nothing too heavy."

  • "I don't really like wine. Something easy for Friendsgiving under $20?"

You get two or three picks, each with Michael's take, a price tier, why it fits what you asked, and where to buy it.

When we tested that last question, the app suggested La Vostra Prosecco Rosé ("Soft bubbles and a little fruitiness make this super approachable if wine usually tastes bitter"), along with El Coto Rosado and Erath Pinot Noir.

Isn't this just another AI wine app?

No, and that's the point. Most AI wine apps will recommend from every wine on the internet. Sommelier on Demand only recommends wines Michael has actually poured for real guests. The AI matches your question to his list; the notes and opinions are his, not machine-written.

What you won't find

  • No scores and no jargon. "I like it" is a perfectly good tasting note.

  • No unicorn bottles. Every wine is one you can find at an ordinary local shop.

  • No price snobbery. Picks run from under $15 to $50+, and many of Michael's favorites are under $20.

In Michael's words: "People just want a bottle that tastes great with dinner and doesn't blow the budget. Drink what tastes good. That's the only rule."

Quick-start guides

Not sure what to ask? Start with one of the ready-made guides: Date Night, Steak Night, Pizza Night, Thanksgiving, Wines Under $15 and Celebration Sparkling.

Tip: add it to your phone's home screen and it works like an app, so Michael is with you in the wine aisle.

Want Michael in the room?

The app is the next best thing to having Michael at your table. The best thing is still having him there. Book a private in-home wine tasting in Metro Detroit or Chicago, a corporate tasting, or a virtual tasting anywhere in the U.S.
